EasyPicShare puts a QR code on a screen so guests at an event can add photos to a slideshow. This page describes exactly what that involves, in the order it happens.

What a Host Gives Us

Hosting an event needs an account, and the only way to make one is to sign in with Google. From that we keep your name, email address and a Google account identifier. We use them to know which events are yours and to show your name in the corner of the page.

For each event we store what you type: its name, the date, the colours, the lettering, and any banner phrases.

What a Guest Gives Us

Guests do not make an account and are not asked to. Scanning the code creates an anonymous identifier so the system can tell one uploader from another and enforce limits. It is not linked to a person, an email address or a device you can be traced by.

A guest may optionally type a name so their photos are credited on the screen. That is the only personal detail we ask a guest for, and leaving it blank works fine.

The Photos Themselves

Photos and videos are stored so they can be shown on the slideshow and, on paid events, browsed by guests afterwards.

Photos are re-encoded in your browser before they are sent. They are resized for the screen, and a side effect of how that is done is that EXIF metadata does not survive. Camera model, and more importantly GPS location, are discarded before the photo leaves the device. Video is uploaded as it is and keeps whatever metadata it arrived with.

What We Do Not Do

• No analytics. There is no tracking script on any page.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No selling or sharing of personal information.
• No facial recognition and no analysis of photo contents.
• No email from us beyond replying to something you send.

Your browser stores a few small preferences locally: a guest's typed name, whether slideshow sound is on, and any changes made to the sample album. These stay on your device and are never sent to us.

Google Photos

A host can choose to import photos from their own Google Photos library. If you do, Google's own picker opens and you choose the specific photos. We never receive access to your library, only to the items you hand over, and only for long enough to copy them into your event.

The access token that permits this is used immediately and never stored. We do not keep any credential that would let us return to your Google account later.

EasyPicShare's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How Long Anything Lasts

An event and everything in it is deleted 90 days after the event date, automatically. That includes every photo, every video, the album, and the link. This is not a setting and it is not reversible, so save anything you want to keep before then.

Account details are kept while the account exists. Ask and we will delete it.

Who Can See a Photo

An event link is unguessable rather than password protected. Anyone holding the link can see that event, in the same way as an unlisted video. It is not indexed and cannot be found by searching, and no link reveals anything about any other event.

A host can hide or permanently delete any photo in their event, and a guest can delete a photo they added themselves.

Who Else Is Involved

• Google Cloud and Firebase host the site, the database, the files and the sign-in. Data is stored in the United States.
• Cloudflare provides DNS for easypicshare.com.

Nobody else receives your data. If payments are added later, a payment provider will handle card details directly and we will not see or store them.

Children

EasyPicShare is for adults organising events. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Children obviously appear in party photos; those photos belong to the host's event and are deleted with it.

Changes

If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
